The Siren

I live right by the sea so illustrating mermaids goes with the territory! I drew this one after arriving home from Athens, perhaps you can spot the ancient Greek influences. I was so inspired by the ancient Greek sculptures I saw — their beautiful angular faces and the way their hair is always depicted like waves of the ocean.

Sirens and mermaids have always captured my imagination — rulers of a mysterious, inky underwater world that holds the memory of the ages.
