Lace Aphrodite

I had the idea of creating a digital illustration that looked like lace and stitch, so I drew this piece depicting Aphrodite sitting on her scallop shell throne within medieval style archway. I sketched out the rough design first and then researched real French and Irish lace samples, looking for the anchor points and decorative details which I could apply to my digital drawing. I was really pleased with the outcome and it’s a very good example of how digital illustration can still be very organic.
